从女性主义的角度浅析《纯真年代》中的矛盾冲突

【摘 要】Edith Wharton is a most influential female writer in American literature of 19th century. THE AGE OF INNOCENCE is one of her most famous works ,which reveals the outlook of New York society between the late 1870sand the early 1880s to us. At present domestic academia pay more attention to the female consciousness, the hero and heroine’s tragic theme features, but rarely discuss the contradictions and conflicts of this novel. This article is from individual,group and the NewYork society, using the theory of feminism to analyse the inner conflict and

contradiction about the hero Newland Archer, the traditional woman May Welland and the image of freedom Ellen Olenska as well as the conflict of interest about each family in the old New York society.% 伊迪斯·华顿堪称是19世纪末美国文坛最具影响力的一位女作家，《纯真年代》作为华顿最优秀的作品之一，它展现了19世纪70年代末80年代初的纽约上流社会的全景。目前国内学术界较多地关注其中的女性意识，男女主人公的悲剧性等主题特征，但很少分析这部作品中的矛盾与冲突。这篇论文它旨在从个人，家族，整个纽约社会三个角度，利用女权主义理论来分析男主人公纽兰。阿彻尔，传统女性梅·韦兰和憧憬自由的埃伦·奥兰斯卡之间的内心矛盾冲突以及本身带有矛盾色彩的老纽约社会中各个家族之间的利益冲突。
