一.阅读课的目标
《英语课程标准》(实验稿)中倡导“任务型”教学,避免单纯传授语言知识的教学方法,学生在做中学,学中用,通过思考、调查、讨论、交流和合作等方式,学习和使用英语,完成学习任务,培养学生语言运用能力。
二、初中英语阅读课任务的设计原则
在设计任务时应遵循以下原则:(1)趣味性;(2)针对性:任务应适合全体学生参与,而不仅仅是让优秀学生参加;最好设计成若干种形式,使不同水平的学生都能参与并完成;(3)循序渐进:一个大的任务有时可以分成几个小任务由易到难,分步完成;(4)以学生为主体:把他们从语言学习者(Language learner)转变成语言的使用者(Language user),老师应是促进者、组织者、监督者或参与者;

四、应用实例 (以JEFC B2 Unit 22 Lesson 86为例 ) Step 1. Check up the homework.
Report the result of the survey which the students had been asked to make before class. Names Items The high jump The long jump The 100-meter race (Here I use Task-based Learning. The students will practice the comparative and superlative naturally).
Step 2. Pre-task. A competition.
Show the Students some pictures and ask some questions, each group will have a competition.
1). Who is she? What is she good at? (Wang Nan. Table tennis.) 2).Who is he? Where is he now? (Yao Ming. In America./In NBA.) 3). Who is he? Does he play for England? (Beckham. Yes, he does.)
4). What’s the name of this sport? How many players in a team? (The relay race. Four.)
5). Where will the 2008 Olympic Games be held? (In Beijing.)
After competition, I’ll ask them to guess which sport to talk about this class, and write the topic on the blackboard.
(This activity will rouse the students’ interests and present the main topic.) Show some pictures of the relay race, ask and answer, to help the students know more about it and teach some expressions, like the starting/finishing line, drop the stick, pass on the stick, catch up with, neck and neck, as„as, runner.
(It will make a fold of background knowledge and language in students’ recognition structure and help them listen to and read in the next step.)
3. Pre-read. Ask the Students to discuss the questions on part 1. Then report
in class.
Step 3.During-task. Skimming.
Read the text again, finish Exercise 1 on page 104: Tell the sentences right or wrong. Ask a group of students to give the answers one by one.
Scanning.
Show the students the chart below, ask them to finish it by scanning the text. Lap 1 Lap 2 Lap 3 Lap 4 Class ____ runner and Class ____ runner were both neck and neck. Class ____ runner dropped his stick on the ground. Class ____ runner fell and hurt his leg. Class ____ runner and Class ____ runner were still neck and neck. Class ____ runner began to catch up with others. Class ____ runner ran very fast. Class ____ runner began to catch up with Class 3. Class ____ runner and Class ____ runner were neck and neck. Then check up the answers.
(In this step, we want to train the Ss’ reading skills, they will be more familiar with the details through fast-reading.)
3. Listen to the tape and the flash, then read after it. Step 4. Post-task
Imagine you’re one of the players, describe the relay race in your own words with the help of the flash and the key words.
(The Students can learn how to describe the race and practice their speaking.) Prediction.
Ask the students to predict the ending --- which class won the relay race? It must be a little different from Lesson 87. Let them make a bold prediction and have a free talk.
(Prediction can train the Ss the sense of creation, imagination and the ability of speaking English.)
Discussion.
If we’ll have a sports meeting next week, discuss the following questions in the group of six as usual:
1). Who will take part in the relay race in your group? Why? If you won’t take part in it, what can you do?(faster/slower, fastest)
2). What will you do if you fall and hurt in the race?
3). What should you do if you win? What should you do if you lose? After discussion, each group will report the result of the discussion.
(They’re open questions, Students can have different ideas, the teacher will encourage them to have the spirit of teamwork and a strong will when they face difficulties. Tell them to be grateful if they win. Don’t lose heart if they lose. Here we use Cooperative Learning. )
Step 5. Summary.
Summarize the usage of some phrases:
