2. Problem and problem analysis 3. Project objectives and hypothesis 4. Project rationale (literature review) 5. Project design

6. Project implementation and evaluation 7. Project findings and discussion 8. Conclusion

6. 引用要求

It is important to avoid plagiarizing other people's work in the thesis writing. 1) Quotations

In thesis writing, a small number of direct quotations of other authors' words in their publications could be used to support the argument. It is a dangerous policy to have quotations lightly held together by argument. The reverse pattern is far safer: a solid argument, carefully supported, where necessary, by apt quotations.

Following are rules for using quotations:

a. A quotation should only be used when it contributes more by direct quotation

than by rewriting.

b. Quotations must be accurate.

c. The sources must be indicated in such a way that the reader can find the

quotation in its original context without any difficulty. One must include page numbers in the reference.

d. One must show clearly where quotations begin and end. Please see Rules for references in Appendix II. 2) Paraphrases

It is acceptable that one could rewrite in his/her own words (paraphrase) points or arguments that he/she has taken from other people's published work. When doing so, he/she must give credit by referring to the source of information. However, in writing any one section of the thesis, one should present his/her own ideas mixed together with points or ideas borrowed from a number of different authors. One should not write up any one section of the thesis by borrowing information solely from one source. (i.e. One is not allowed to make up a section of the thesis by rewriting in his/her own words a whole section of another writer's work.) Please see Rules for references in Appendix II. 3) Plagiarism-unacknowledged references

Copying (word for word) other author's original text into the thesis, without giving quotation marks, will be severely punished (if found). Copying one complete sentence from other author's without quotation marks is NOT acceptable, even if one has indicated reference taken at the end of the sentence.

Rewriting other authors' ideas without giving credit is also unacceptable, and will be penalized if found in the thesis.

8. 书目书写要求

It is useful to get into the habit of compiling a bibliography with full details as soon as one starts to find books or articles on a topic. It may seem unnecessary to have such complete references; however, one may find that later, when he/she wants to refer to a particular book or article, lack of information makes it impossible or time-consuming. If one keeps an accurate record of his/her references, it will be an easy task to include references in the body of the thesis and to write up the bibliography. Bibliographical entries should follow a strict format as stated in Rules for references in Appendix II.
